On 6 November 2024, the Agri-PDB Platform and Aliénor Consulting organized an insightful webinar on agricultural credit guarantee mechanisms. This event brought together key stakeholders from public development banks and guarantee institutions to discuss practical solutions for facilitating access to agricultural finance, drawing on the successful example of the Sahélienne de Financement (SAHFI) in Niger.
Claude Torre, Project Manager at AFD, opened the webinar by emphasizing that guarantee mechanisms are essential tools to reduce the risks faced by financial institutions and to encourage stronger support for the agricultural sector. He also shared international examples, notably from Brazil and Colombia, demonstrating the positive impact of guarantee funds.
Rémy Sourdois, Managing Director of Aliénor Consulting, presented SAHFI’s experience as a successful example of collaboration between the State, financial institutions, and chambers of agriculture. He also highlighted the importance of digital tools such as Calao Solution, which facilitate analysis and decision-making in agricultural credit.
