The Role of PDBs and DFIs in Fostering Locally Led Development Finance for Agricultural Transformation

This session, co-organised with Sandra Martinsone, Deputy chairwoman of the Board at the Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation, provided participants with a clear understanding of the key principles of locally led development. It highlighted the role of public development banks (PDBs) in supporting local economic transformation and explored practical approaches for improving access to finance for smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and agri-MSMEs. The session also examined the role of local actors and farmers' organizations in driving inclusive economic development and strengthening locally led development efforts.
