| | | 2nd Session of Rural Finance Inclusion – Spanish and French |
|
| Spanish session – 8 September The session featured experts from banking, insurance, and rural finance, who emphasized that linking timely credit with risk management is essential for sustaining agricultural growth. The discussion highlighted Colombia’s FINAGRO as a strong example of how combining insurance, microcredit, and technical support can effectively reach small producers, while Banrural Guatemala shared insights from its experience with Aseguradora Rural. Participants agreed that scaling such models requires trust, tailored products, faster payouts, supportive policies, and closer collaboration across financial and regulatory institutions.

| | French session – 25 September The session explored how agricultural insurance can boost rural resilience and financial inclusion amid climate risks. Experts from PDBs, insurers, and development partners emphasized that insurance is a core part of sustainable rural finance, not just an add-on. Examples from France, West Africa, and Latin America showed that linking insurance with credit, data, and technical support helps farmers invest, adapt, and recover faster. Participants highlighted three priorities for PDBs: connect climate finance with risk-management tools, invest in data and digital solutions, and strengthen public–private partnerships. The discussion also identified practical entry points for PDBs to integrate insurance — from blended finance schemes to policy reforms enabling wider adoption.
